Claudia has been part of the kasasi team since 2016 and holds the dual role of Scrum Master and Software Developer in Team Blue.

Claudia, how did you come to kasasi?

I came to kasasi in 2016 when I was looking for a company for my Master's thesis. I found kasasi through the Kempten University of Applied Sciences job portal. The topics listed there were incredibly interesting –especially Big Data and Data Science. So I applied, and in March I was off and running! After my thesis, I stayed on at kasasi. At first I was in Team Green – where I also wrote my thesis – working on frameworks and data imports. Following a company-wide restructuring, I moved to Team Blue, where I initially worked mainly on a project for a major industrial client. Since 2021, I've also taken on the Scrum Master role within the team.

What are your responsibilities as a Developer and Scrum Master?

I have two roles: Scrum Master and Software Developer. As Scrum Master, I ensure that processes within the team run smoothly. My goal is for the team to have everything it needs to move forward efficiently. At kasasi, part of my role also involves representing the team externally. Normally, a Scrum Master isn't part of the development team – at kasasi, it's different. That has its pros and cons, but I love it because I don't have to choose – I can do both! The work is very varied: together as a team, we figure out how to implement a user story that our Product Owner has prepared. We discuss questions like: How do we implement this technically? What's feasible, what isn't? In recent months, our focus has been on developing a custom platform for a major freight forwarding company. Before that, I was heavily involved with the topic of data lakes – providing technical infrastructure to store and make data available long-term.

What excites you about your work?

My day usually starts at 9:00 with our Daily – that's more or less when my working day begins. Then I check my emails and Teams news. After that comes the Scrum of Scrums, where the Scrum Masters catch up. The mornings often have further appointments too – our Wednesday development meeting or discussions with other teams, for example. In the afternoons, my day varies greatly. Depending on what tasks are on, I either work on my own in focused mode or we get together as a team to work through something collaboratively. I work from home three days a week, which I really value – I often cook with my husband at lunchtime. But I also enjoy coming into the office – especially for the great teamwork. Lunch breaks often involve card games like "The Crew".

What makes kasasi special for you as an employer?

For me, it's the great teamwork and the open, family–like atmosphere. After my Master's thesis, everything was technically restructured, which was an exciting challenge. kasasi also offers the opportunity to delve into many different areas and keep developing. As a smaller company, the management knows everyone personally, and you can actively get involved and really make a difference. It's a place where you're constantly earning new things and developing across different areas.

What would you like to say to applicants?

Be curious about diverse tasks and don't be afraid to look beyond your immediate area.
